The beauty about the postnatal ward is you are so busy you don’t have time to pee let alone mope about your own crap. I had a really great day today. The more hours I spend in midwifery the more I love my job. I was able to help a handful of people today adjust to being new parents. I helped a dad with a sick wife care for their baby whilst she was too unwell to do so. I helped multiple mummies attached their babies to the breast successfully. One baby was not interested at all so I was able to help her mum hand express some colostrum (liquid gold) to feed her sleepy girl. I did obs upon obs. I snuggled a few babies and I learnt a whole heap more.
I can’t wait to be a mum but I also can’t wait to be a registered midwife
